Welcome to LearnWhatNotToDo.com– an online resource for learning and sharing real-life lessons learned on just about any topic.  There are thousands of “to do” guidance, instructional, and educational resources available including books, magazines, websites, TV networks and experts to tell you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, what to buy, and where to find it.  Our goal is simple–to help you achieve your goals, reduce stress, and save time and money by learning what “not to do” when faced with or thinking about a situation, task, decision, or idea.

When we gain knowledge from an action or decision which resulted in a mistake, blooper, gaffe, mishap, faux-pas, or slip-up, we affectionately define that as a Lesson Learned.  There have been times when some of us:

  • Had a faux pas in business that may have cost us our company or career
  • Neglected some phase of our education and wished we could hit “replay”
  • Attended events which didn’t go according to plan
  • Made family decisions which caused everyone grief
  • Expended our money and now regret some of our choices
  • Used technology in a way that wasn’t practical
  • Originated travel plans which resulted in more gaffes than memories

In these tough times, with record high job losses, home foreclosures, business closings, natural disasters, and an economic meltdown, even the smallest mistake we make can be exacerbated and have a lasting and devastating effect.  This is a critical time for us to focus on lessening and avoiding mistakes.  Learning what not to do from others can have a positive impact on how we respond to situations and the outcome.  We are inspired to create this platform for individuals to share their real-life Lessons Learned because we believe one of the best ways to overcome a mistake is by helping others avoid them.

To our Readers–  we all make promises to never make the same mistake twice.  But as time progresses we can’t remember all of the things we’d never do again– until it’s too late.  Learning what not to do can lessen our mistakes in life and help us avoid stress.

To our Contributors– what a great feeling to know you’ve made a difference and positive impact in someone else’s life.  We are changing the way we approach learning by focusing on what not to do and making a concerted effort to avoid gaffes.

Thank you for visiting LearnWhatNotToDo.com– a resource for learning that changes lives.
