You don’t have to own a business to know or want to know how to manage one successfully. We describe a “successful” business as a legal entity formed to fulfill a service and/or the needs of people in accordance with defined goals, timelines, measures, and accomplishments. All individuals who make up an entity have a crucial role in ensuring its continued success. Unlike a family, members of an entity can be selected solely based on their expertise, skills, talent, and ability to add value to the business.
But in business, even the best and brightest make mistakes, which we affectionately define as Lessons Learned. There are thousands of “to do” guidance, instructional, and educational resources available including books, magazines, websites, TV networks and experts to tell you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, what to buy, and where to find it. Our goal is simple–to help you achieve your goals, reduce stress, and save time and money by learning what “not to do” when faced with or thinking about a travel situation, task, decision, or idea.
In these tough times, with record high job losses, home foreclosures, business closings, natural disasters, and an economic meltdown, even the smallest mistakes we make can be exacerbated and have a lasting and devastating effect. This is a critical time for us to focus on lessening and avoiding mistakes. Learning what not to do from others can have a positive impact on how we respond to situations and the outcome. We are inspired to create this platform for individuals to share their real-life Lessons Learned because we believe one of the best ways to overcome a mistake is by helping others avoid them.
